Description of the initiative/objectives

 

Procom's Client is looking for an experienced IT focused Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity analyst with extensive experience in all aspects of Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity planning resource to participate in, and in some cases lead, various initiatives as they pertain to Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery planning.  This senior resource will report to the Manager, Infrastructure & Operations Support.

Responsibilities

 

Ideal candidate will be able to:

1.    Define the scope and boundaries of the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plan

2.    Conduct business impact analysis (BIA)

3.    Define key metrics, recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) to determine most suitable recovery strategy

4.    Establish central measure steps to eliminate/reduce computer security threats.

 

The Disaster Recovery plan/Disaster Recovery plan should include planning for resumption of application, data, hardware, communications and other infrastructure.

 

Experience Levels

 

Must possess 10 years experience or more in planning, designing, and implementing enterprise IT Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery programs for large corporations.

 

Skills:

 

·         Strong understanding of Disaster Recovery/ Business Continuity planning techniques and technologies and proven ability to analyze risk, financial, and business impacts.

·         Experience with supporting a Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Testing Program.

·         Excellent project management experience with strong planning, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills necessary to establish standards and implement comprehensive Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity strategies and plans.

·         Strong business/technical experience, across several industries, serving as a trusted advisor

·         Excellent interpersonal skills

·         Experience in public speaking including presentations to large groups

 

Knowledge and/or Specific Experience And/Or Background

 

One or more professional certifications related to Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, such as:

·        Certified Business Continuity Professional

·        Master Business Continuity Professional

·        Business Continuity Certified Planner

·        Business Continuity Certified Specialist

·        Business Continuity Certified Expert

·        Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist

·        Disaster Recovery Certified Expert

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·        Performs tactical Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity planning responsibilities related to identified functional points of vulnerability and tests disaster avoidance and reduction strategies.

·        Provides design, development, maintenance and testing of the Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity plans to ensure that the organization can respond to any disaster at any of the data centers so that critical business functions can be resumed within a defined timeframe.

·        Verify existing recovery arrangements and support that exists, and confirms gaps in that coverage which need to be upgraded.

·        Interacts with company business units to determine critical business processes, identify acceptable recovery time periods, and co-ordinate resources for the testing of successful resumption of business operations in the event of a disaster.

·        Assures that recovery procedures are effective for the restoration of key corporate resources and for the resumption of critical business processes.

·        Establishes Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity testing methodologies; plans and coordinates the testing of recovery support and business resumption procedures in different functional areas.

·        Conducts Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity training and awareness for colleagues. Provides instructional and informational materials on how colleagues are expected to respond during an emergency. Assists in the assignment and training of staff. Develops and maintains standards and procedures for disaster recovery documentation. Maintains a library of recovery support and business resumption procedures.

·        Develops corporate emergency response procedures; distributes and updates emergency procedures to reflect changes in staff size, location, organization, and home office facilities.

·        Reviewing the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Business Continuity Plans to analyze the effect that disasters may have on business functions, challenge any assumptions and identifying any new business functions that are critical to the organization

·        Reviewing the Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and making recommendations to meet those goals

·        Assist in carrying out risk analysis and assessments

·        Understanding the areas in scope for the Business Continuity Program

·        Provide input towards recommendations for strategic recovery and continuity planning

·        Monitoring interruptions to the normal course of business operations and carrying out the analyses and measurements associated with these interruptions

·        When called upon, leading contingency and Disaster Recovery planning efforts and identifying dependencies between the business areas

·        Interfacing among business owners, technology experts, and business continuity professionals

·        Review and update annually, BIA and risk analysis to capture any changes.

 

Description of the work required and deliverables

 

·        Coordinating the development, documentation, communication, testing, enforcement and maintenance of Disaster Recovery (DR) plans

·        Participating in preparation of an organization-wide Business Continuity Plan Define Disaster Recovery test strategy and provide leadership and coordination of test rollout including resource allocation, environmental readiness and deployment plans

·        Performing periodic gap analysis to ensure recovery plans are consistent with business expectations

·        Recognizing and identifying potential areas where existing Disaster Recovery policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed

·        Participating in the design/implementation of key operations processes to support Incident, Change, Problem and Release Management, documenting processes and procedures

·        Providing education, mentoring, guidance and thought leadership of Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity plans, processes, and procedures

·        Maintaining a single point of Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity contact for IT teams and business units.
